Frenting is a private peer-to-peer platform that helps people rent, lend, and share spaces and items with family, friends, neighbors, and trusted groups.

Users can create listings for items such as tools, equipment, party supplies, recreational gear, and household items, as well as spaces such as guest rooms, event spaces, cabins, and other properties. Users can browse listings, request bookings, communicate with one another, manage reservations, and process payments through the platform.

Frenting includes optional social features that allow users to connect with friends and participate in private groups called Circles. Circles help users organize sharing within neighborhoods, apartment communities, organizations, workplaces, and other trusted communities.

To help users find and invite people they already know, Frenting offers an optional Google Contacts import feature. When authorized by the user, Frenting accesses only contact names and email addresses through Google's read-only Contacts APIs. Contact information is displayed temporarily so users can select contacts to invite. Frenting does not access Gmail messages, send email through the user's Google account, or permanently store the user's contact list.

Participation in contact import is entirely optional and is only used to facilitate friend invitations initiated by the user.
